Overview
What EarLink does.
EarLink is a live interpretation app for face-to-face conversations. The app captures microphone input, sends audio to speech and translation services, receives translated text and synthetic speech, and may store translation history locally on your device for your convenience.
Data We Handle
The categories of data we process.
1. Audio and speech data
When you start a live session, the app captures microphone audio so the service can recognize speech, translate it, and generate spoken output. This audio is transmitted to our speech and translation processing providers as needed to deliver the core service.
2. Translation text and transcript content
The app receives source text and translated text generated during a session. If translation history is enabled, the app may save session content locally on your device.
3. Local session history
Based on the current app implementation, translation history is stored locally in the app's private storage on your device so you can view past sessions. We do not currently operate a separate cloud history backend for this feature.
4. Account and contact information
The current app experience does not require account creation to use live translation. If you contact support, join a waitlist, participate in testing, or later use optional account features, we may collect your email address or other contact details when you choose to provide them. If you never share contact details with us, we may not have account-level data for you.
5. Device and operational data
We may process basic device, app, and routing information such as platform, app version, language pair, audio route, timestamps, and limited diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
How We Use Data
Why we process your information.
- To provide live speech recognition, translation, and spoken output.
- To store local session history you choose to keep on your device.
- To route audio correctly between devices, speakers, or earbuds.
- To troubleshoot bugs, respond to support requests, and monitor service reliability.
- To protect the service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Retention
How long data is kept.
Local translation history stays on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Audio and translation data sent to third-party processors may be retained by those processors for operational, logging, security, or compliance purposes according to their own policies and agreements with us.
Your Choices
Your controls, rights, and deletion options.
- You can stop a session at any time to stop live microphone capture.
- You can remove local translation history inside the app where supported, or by uninstalling the app.
- You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of account-related data we control.
- If you only used local device features and never shared contact information with us, there may be no remote account profile for us to delete.
For support or deletion requests, visit the support page, the account deletion page, or email successoneoone@gmail.com.
